SAS/SPECTRAVIEW®

SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software, the SAS System's data visualization and analysis tool, allows you to create, analyze, and modify geometric images representing multidimensional data. This software is useful for a variety of applications, including medical imaging, oil exploration, environmental sciences, chemical analysis, pharmaceutical studies, financial analysis, and more.

SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software provides powerful data visualization and analysis capabilities. For example, you can create geometric models of data using isometric surfaces, volumes, cutting planes, and other data visualization and modeling techniques.

The software also offers a wide variety of interactive graphical analysis tools that you can use to manipulate and analyze large volumes of data. The mouse-oriented, menu-driven interface provides you with simple, yet powerful control of multiple three-dimensional views of data.

And with SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software, you can concurrently view several models using four display windows. You can rotate and zoom each view, either independently or collectively, to change your viewing perspective and to aid in data analysis. In addition, you can modify many image attributes, such as color, text, axis attributes, and more.

Interactive Data Analysis

SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software is designed to be completely interactive. By simply pointing and clicking a mouse, you can select SAS data libraries, open SAS data sets, and select data set variables and other analysis components. There is no special syntax or code to learn or write.

SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software is particularly useful for large data sets, which are often too cumbersome for more traditional data analysis software. You can easily obtain information normally requiring dozens of two-dimensional images. Now with simple mouse actions, you can view information in a fraction of the time it would normally take.

In addition, the software combines powerful SAS data set features, such as WHERE clauses, with new data visualization techniques. For example, you can apply a SAS WHERE clause to subset your data and then apply a data filter to further enhance the data. SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software allows you to select from several predefined filters or interactively and visually create your own filters.

Data Modeling

SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software is designed to provide maximum flexibility in creating visual data models. You can choose from several data models, including three-dimensional volumes with cut-away capabilities, isometric surfaces, two- and three-dimensional charts, stacked contours, cutting planes, and many others. Each of these models may be rotated and scaled as required for analysis.

The software's four display windows allow you to view several data models simultaneously, further aiding in visual analysis. You can manipulate each view independently or all four views at the same time. Each view can be zoomed, rotated in three dimensions, and resized as required.

Modifying Models

Once you have created a visual data model, SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software allows you to further enhance data analysis through a wide variety of attributes. For example, you can change model colors, add text and legends to the view, move and scale text, modify axis attributes such as tick marks and labels, and more. And with SAS/SPECTRAVIEW software, all attributes are changed interactively.

When you have completed your analysis, you can save any view to an external TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) file and use it in another document, image, or presentation. Just select SAVE and click on the view to save.
