What’s the story with analytics?

I’m looking forward to attending Predictive Analytics World in San Francisco in a week or so. I’ll blog a few presentations and interview analytics experts and SAS customers to get their stories of analytics, in front of quite a unique SAS booth.

Rather than the traditional pre-made, glossy panels and posters that most companies show in an exhibit hall, SAS representatives will “man” 40 white boards that, through the course of the conference, will be filled with on the spot drawings depicting booth conversations – “stories about analytics.” Matter Solutions will be the artists on the floor recording the conversations, similar to the SAS Power Live Series.

The team expects to dive into topics such as high-performance analytics, analytical culture and industry-specific cases of analytics at work. But what is REALLY exciting about this format is the unknown factor, for it’s the conference attendees who will be the ones populating the panels through their successes, challenges, streams of consciousness, you name it.

This is a picture of a “story of analytics” session conducted by SAS’ Gary Spakes recently here at SAS World Headquarters in Cary, NC.

Are you going to Predictive Analytics World too? Come share your story with us! If you’d like to join me for an interview, let me know and I will share your story in other channels as well.

The whiteboard throughout the conference sounds like a great idea! Spontaneous, open-ended collaboration…and without any fancy technology required. Will you be posting some follow-ups?
