OLE Automation Server

The purpose of the OLE Automation server is to enable OLE Automation clients to programmatically control the Enterprise Guide application. The Enterprise Guide OLE automation server object hierarchy is shown below in Figure 1.

The Application object represents the Enterprise Guide application. An automation client creates an instance of this object to launch the Enterprise Guide application. The Application object contains a single Project object, which represents the Enterprise Guide project.

The automation client uses

  • the Application object to get the collection objects and shut down the automation server
  • the Project object to access all project elements.
