Alexander Petrov, Ph.D., is a Managing Director, Basel Standards Implementation, VTB Bank, Moscow and also the moderator of the interbanking “Basel 2, Pillar 1″ standing working group in the Central Bank of Russia and Association of Russian Banks. Petrov has broad experience in mathematical modeling with a special interest in risk management and banking and insurance applications. Previously, at Gazprombank Petrov managed the overall implementation of Basel II IRB approach. At the Swedbank Group Risk Department, Stockholm, he was responsible for all modeling and quantitative issues, as well as the implementation of Swedbank group risk management standards in the local BUs in Ukraine, Russia and the Baltics. At the Royal & Sun Alliance Scandinavia, Sweden, Petrov took the lead in the yearly DFA simulations for ICA submission to English FSA, as well as in the development of internal models framework for the upcoming Solvency 2.
