Dear Readers, If I’m not reading, I’m probably sleeping: blogs, newspapers, newsmagazines, Twitter posts and cereal boxes. So, I have a hard time limiting the number of articles that I put in the SAS Tech Report each month. One blog post that I couldn’t resist including is from a Twitter I follow called @rkoopmann. Richard Koopmann (his real name) is also a SAS user, SAS Tech Report subscriber and blogger.
Recently Koopmann posted an article about scraping on quatch, his blog. It intrigued me so I've included it. In his post, he grabbed internet data, in this case the SAS® Training catalog and schedules, and, using macros that he’s left on the blog for you to see, he was able to cycle through each course that had an available schedule. Scraping allows you to grab information from the internet and, using regular expressions, parse useful information from it.

We’re always working to improve based on feedback from our customers and now we’ll use these survey results to make it even better.
