Dear Readers,

I have to admit that I don’t know all of the holidays celebrated around the world during this time of year. My family and I once lived in Okinawa, Japan for several years, so I know that there’s soon going to be a fabulous New Year’s celebration there. And, my world studies touched on a British holiday called Boxing Day and the Feast of Stephen. But, I know even less of other global holidays.

Here in the melting pot of the US, there are a variety of traditions. My husband and I celebrate Christmas. We’ve draped a handsome Frasier fir with our memories and dozens of twinkling lights. Our halls are decked with poinsettias, red velvet bows and a bit of fake mistletoe. On Christmas morning, there'll be cookies and hot coffee, calls from our children and grandkids and a handful of gifts and cards. We’ll end the day with a turkey dinner served by candle light.

It has been a joy spending this year as your editor. I hope your holiday season is filled with joy and peace.
