World Happiness Analysis

In which country are citizens the happiest?

In 2012, the U.N. held a meeting to discuss the topic “Well-Being and Happiness: Defining a New Economic Paradigm.” In support of that meeting, the first World Happiness Report was created and has been reproduced annually.

The 2020 report1 was released in March. It ranks 156 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be. The overall score depends on six factors:

  • Generosity.
  • Social support.
  • Levels of gross domestic product (GDP).
  • Corruption.
  • Freedom.
  • Healthy life expectancy.
