AI for Government

In the sea of hype and conjecture around Artificial Intelligence, it’s often hard to know who or what to believe in. At SAS our position has always been consistent and clear:

Adopting AI for Government

Understanding the potential of government data and the rapid emergence of AI allows the public sector to tap into bold new insights and make better decisions more efficiently.

Where is AI already transforming our world for better?

Machine Learning is helping surgeons to spend more time with patients

Machine Learning is helping surgeons to spend more time with patients

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Denmark's Lillebælt Hospital replaced its resource-intensive, manual journal audits with SAS Text Analytics. The SAS solution allowed the Department to implement a Clinically Correct Time-True Registration system, which automatically analysed the records of all hospitalized patients. This has allowed surgeons to spend more time with patients instead of reviewing records. A further benefit is that the department administrative staff can learn from any mistakes when checking records.

Using AI to help wildlife conservation

Using AI to help wildlife conservation

WildTrack identifies and monitors endangered species by analysing animal footprints. Working with SAS, WildTrack researchers are exploring how AI and crowdsourced international footprint data could help preserve and improve wildlife conservation efforts. With deep learning, given enough data, a computer can be trained to perform human-like tasks such as identifying footprint images and recognizing patterns in a similar way to indigenous trackers – but with the added ability to apply these concepts at a much larger scale and more rapid pace.

Automating internal process at University to improve academic performance

Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) has strategic goals to attract more students, improve retention and enhance the overall student experience. SAS Visual Analytics combines the practical aspects of time-saving and data accuracy and is central to the CCCU’s strategic programme to achieve their goals. As a result, the university now applies advanced analytics and automates simple tasks allowing for better decision making at operational, financial and academic levels.
