The role of the Data Analyst

A data analyst collects, organises and studies data to provide business insight.

In this role, you will:

  • Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation (including the use of business information tools).
  • Identify, collect and migrate data to and from a range of systems.
  • Manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data alongside a range of analytical studies on that data.
  • Manipulate and link different data sets.
  • Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users.

Typical Salary of a Data Analyst

Entry-level salaries range between
£24,000 and £25,000.

With a few years' experience, salaries can rise to between £30,000 and £35,000.

Experienced, high-level and consulting jobs can command £60,000 or more.

Course Overview

This four-week programme provides the core knowledge and skills needed to become a Data Analyst.

This online programme provides an introduction to data access, data preparation, data discovery, and report creation using world leading SAS software including SAS Studio, Base SAS and SAS Visual Analytics. Consideration is given to the interpersonal and communications skills needed when presenting your data analysis findings with a non-technical audience.

You will learn how to:

  • Access SAS, Microsoft Excel, and text data.
  • Explore and validate data.
  • Prepare data by subsetting rows and computing new columns.
  • Perform data discovery and analysis
  • Create interactive reports.
  • Export data and results to Excel, PDF, and other formats.
  • Use SQL in SAS to query and join tables.
