Ivan Skula, PhD, CFE, is a fraud and financial crime expert with more than 18 years of experience helping financial institutions design, implement, and optimize fraud detection and prevention strategies. As a Principal Consultant specializing in fraud and financial crime analytics, he has worked with banks and financial organizations across Europe and the Middle East, supporting the development of risk-based controls, advanced analytics, and operational frameworks that strengthen institutions’ ability to detect and prevent fraud.

Ivan’s work focuses on bridging the gap between technology, analytics, and real-world fraud operations. His expertise spans fraud detection platforms, transaction monitoring, case management, and advanced analytical techniques, including machine learning and graph analytics. He has led numerous fraud solution implementations and advisory engagements, helping organizations translate complex analytical capabilities into practical operating models that improve detection effectiveness while managing operational efficiency.

He holds a PhD in Applied Informatics with research focused on phishing detection and the analysis of malicious webpages. His academic work has resulted in several research publications on phishing webpage detection, dataset preparation methodologies, domain blacklist effectiveness, and attacker techniques, including URL and domain obfuscation. His research combines large-scale analysis of phishing data with practical approaches to improving detection systems.
