Bridging the gap between studies and work
Norway is ranked among the countries that are most likely to succeed in the digital economy, but according to Cisco's «Global Digital Readiness Index» are we falling behind. The same conclusion is presented in Abelia's «Transition Barometer». There is a need to strengthen our competence to apply technology.
IKT-Norway has imposed demands for 5000 new IT study admissions during the current parliamentary period. But in the national budget for 2020, only 70 new places have been allocated. The private sector and the IT industry are encouraged to involve themselves in the work to close the alarming skills gap.
Need talent with the right skills?
We at SAS Institute offer all students free access to our software and certification through our SCYP program. We support our customers with their internal retraining of own employees, like Data Scientist, AI & Machine Learning, Analytics Value Training or other needed key competencies for quick organization gains. Recently, we also entered a collaboration with BI Norwegian Business School and their Master of Science in Business Analytics. SAS is part of the curriculum and we offer the students the opportunity to apply for an Internship.
Everyone is talking about AI, Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics. We seek partnerships with the ones that make it real. In addition, as a fast track to new talents, we explore the opportunities within Accelerated Learning. A new partnership has been initiated with Academy Norway.
Through 12 weeks of training, students will become familiar with basic analytics, statistics and technical architecture, as well as learning the most common data analysis tools and structuring projects in work steps using agile methods. Talents will be offered a placement at SAS to continue their training, working as consultants. We are pleased to see that the high interest among our customers and partners to leverage the new talents, like Mia, who now is employed as a Business Analyst at Eika Forsikring.
