SAS wins at Qatar Islamic Bank for SAS Data Quality

Story: Like every deal has a story, this deal is no exception. It all started when QIB CIO highlighted data quality challenges the bank was facing for their core banking migration from Phoenix to Temenos. Quickly SAS provided a wonderful presentation with QIB team, where we convinced bank’s acting COO about the advantages of using SAS DQ. This part was very crucial as QIB does not have too many customers and a manual job would have solved their current issue. Gorkem and Vishal were able to change QIB’s mindset to positioning DQ as BAU activity rather than just tactical core banking data migration.

This is when magical Mazhar got involved. Mazhar did a fantastic job in putting the right banking context to an otherwise simple rule standardization in DQ. Mazhar also owned this POC exercise and presented it to QIB team in his flamboyant style impressing and convincing everyone.

Then came the 2nd most important task of commercial negotiations. Vishal, with his excellent relationship with the CIO and smooth selling skills. Vishal was instrumental in closing the negotiation with QIB CIO who managed to find money for this unbudgeted project. Great work Vish!

This is a maiden deal with QIB and a good start to a long relationship. QIB is working on a technology transformation plan and SAS is the chosen analytical partner. Besides, being the first deal in this account, this win comes to SAS without any RFP or competition.
