UN Women USA NC 6th Annual Luncheon Highlights Gender Equality Advocacy

Harvesting the Influence of Female Global Citizenship of Equity and Impact

The UN Women USA, North Carolina chapter will host their 6th annual luncheon on October 25, 2019 at the Governor’s Mansion. The theme is Harvesting the Influence of Female Global Citizenship for Equity and Impact.

In celebration of over 2 million commitments to the UN Women’s global solidarity movement for gender equality, the event will honor individuals whose work and advocacy efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of women in North Carolina and beyond. This year’s Equity Champions in support of the “HeForShe” campaign are Governor Roy Cooper and Dr. James Goodnight, founder and CEO, SAS. “Women of Influence” awards will recognize Duke University Provost, Dr. Sally Kornbluth (Education), Senator Erica Brown (Public Service), Head of CS Raleigh Sophia Wajnert (Economic Development), and IBM Intra-prenuer Phaedra Boinodiris (STEM).

The event will start at 11:00 am with networking, followed by an elegant sit-down luncheon and program that will include a Mistress of Ceremony, Shawna Lemon of Stanek Lemon Law Firm, a keynote speaker, Phaedra Boinodiris, on “Future of Work, AI Bias and Ethics” and the presentation of the awards to the distinguished honorees.
