SAS Institute, the leader in analytics software and services, have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Universitas Bakrie to develop the republic's data analyst talent, aligning them with the needs of employers.

Through the joint Academic Specialization Programme, the Jakarta-based private university will issue SAS certifications to students enrolling in its Bachelor of Information Systems degree. It also gives students and educators the opportunity to use industry-leading SAS solutions for a more hands-on learning experience. The programme is currently available for students taking the courses on Visual programming, Big Data, Data Modeling, Statistics Introduction and Data Warehouse and Data Mining at the university.

"As our nation heads into Industry 4.0, it is crucial to ensure our students are prepared with a level of data knowledge and sophistication that allows them to solve real problems within their organisations and communities. We are honoured to partner with SAS, a global leader in data analytics, to equip our students with highly sought after skills that will set them on secure career paths," said Dr. Siti Rohajawati, S.Kom., M.Kom., Head of Information System Department of Universitas Bakrie.

While Indonesia has great potential to grow into a mature digital economy, it currently faces an acute digital skills shortage, ranking 51st out of 63 countries in the 2022 IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking

"This partnership represents our ongoing commitment to strengthen industries through the use of data by bridging the digital skills gap and cultivating the next generation of data talent," said Febrianto Siboro, Managing Director (Indonesia), SAS Institute. "Through our certifications and training resources, we aim to equip Indonesia's future talent with the skills necessary to drive our nation's economy through knowledge. We are excited by the prospect of honing Indonesia's data talent, while also continuing to empower local businesses with data-driven insights and decision-making, through innovative AI and cloud solutions."
