How to interpret your score

As you progressed through the assessment, a score was generated for each category within a group (based on maturity definitions specific to each category) that were then aggregated to the group level.

The outcome is a set of three total scores, one for each group.

For example, the People and Culture group includes specific questions about four categories within it. So, if you received a 5 for People and Culture, you are at a low level of maturity for that group, falling within the Discover and Inform stage. The same process is repeated for each of the other two groups.

Discovering and Informing

This is the lowest level of maturity. Overall, there are high levels of skepticism and resistance within the organization to new technologies and a pervasive, cultural mindset that it can't be done successfully within the organization. Small, ex-pert groups within the organization are simply trying to understand what digital transformation entails and how IIoT and analytics are involved.

Identifying & Transitioning

This is a medium level of maturity. Leadership recognizes the value of digital transformation overall as well as the criticality of IIoT and analytics. However, core competen-cies and processes are being unevenly established within the organization based on the intersection of blended IT/OT skills and advanced technologies. Experiments are common, and results are balanced between significant success and struggles with scalability and sustainability.

Transformed

The organization is digitally mature. A culture of digital-first underpins all efforts, from leadership to the front line, and speed of response to customer needs differentiates. Previously specialized digital transformation skills are commonly embedded within operations, expanding the number of initiatives undertaken and people involved.

Pathways to Improvement

Your three scores enable your organization to understand where it has gaps. It organizes that view in terms of specific work culture, technological, and operational realities of your company. If you are an executive tasked with creating and executing a digital vision (or someone attempting to convince executives to do so), you now have direction about where to begin and what to improve.

To support those efforts we have outlined a series of recommendations. These insights can be applied to all types of companies whether the organization is a small manufacturer, global leader, or somewhere in between - it’s simply a matter of scale.
