John Lyons, Financial Services Manager, SAS Ireland

John has over fifteen years’ experience working with clients developing technology driven business transformation initiatives delivered utilising analytics, IT and Business Consulting.
He joined SAS Ireland in 2010 where he leads the Financial Service sector. John's team works with clients to help develop and mature their use of analytics in Risk, Finance, Marketing and Compliance.
John holds Post Graduate Diplomas in Strategic Marketing and Business Finance and is currently currently completing a Masters of Business. The research topic he is exploring is: "Is there a case for Retail Banks to adopt an enterprise approach to analytics"

John Moran, Secretary General, Department of Finance

John Moran is the Secretary General of the Department of Finance having previously been Head of Banking at the Department. He is responsible for economic, budgetary and fiscal, banking and financial service policy matters and oversight of Ireland's investments in and support for covered banks. Prior to this Mr. Moran was head of wholesale bank supervision in the Central Bank of Ireland. Mr Moran is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Treasury Management Agency, Commission of the Central Bank of Ireland, a Board Member of the European Investment Bank and was Co-Chair of the EFC Expert Group on Long Term Financing. Mr. Moran has also been CEO and Board Member for Zurich Bank, CEO of Zurich Capital Markets and a resident solicitor for McCann Fitzgerald.

J.P. Jolly, Global Head of Channel & Enterprise Services, Citibank

Hubert Jean-Pierre Jolly (J.P.) is the Global Head of Channel, Enterprise and PrePaid Services for Citi’s Treasury and Trade Solutions business. In this role, J.P. is responsible for Citi’s award-winning cash management and trade services platforms across 96 countries including CitiConnect® (Swift, File and Messaging) and CitiDirect BESM (CitiDirect Banking Evolution) the only online and mobile banking platform with capabilities that span 24 languages and over 100 currencies (and the #1 Online Corporate and Commercial E-Banking Platform in the industry, as rated by Greenwich Associates and Global Finance Magazine). J.P. is also responsible for global Enterprise platforms including Account Services, Billing, CRM and Data Management as well as the Prepaid Card Services in 15 countries.

Prior to assuming this role, J.P. was the Global Head of Commercial Cards and Procure-to-Pay for Citi’s Treasury and Trade Solutions business. Under his leadership, Citi Commercial Cards doubled the number of cardholders it serves, extended its global footprint to over 50 countries, launched the industry’s first global multi-currency virtual card platform, was mandated the largest commercial card program by volume in industry history, and became the #1 issuer of Corporate Cards in the United States (as recognized by The Nilson Report). Since joining Citi as a summer analyst in 1995 in Brussels, Belgium, J.P. has served the organization in a variety of capacities with roles in payments, cards, cash management, trade and project finance in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, New Zealand, Poland and Singapore. J.P. is a Belgian citizen. He graduated from Georgetown University and the London School of Economics with a Bachelor of Science in Operational Research and Finance. J.P. resides in Purchase, NY with his wife and three children. He enjoys soccer, skiing and golf with his kids.

Marisol Menéndez Álvarez, Head of Open Innovation - Grupo BBVA, Spain

As Open Innovation Manager at BBVA, Marisol has been working on developing the Open Innovation department, by designing and implementing the strategies to create an adequate environment with the relevant stakeholders. For the last 7 years she has been in charge for several innovation projects for Human Resources, Supply Chain, ATMs, Social Media and Open Innovation. Marisol graduated as an Industrial Engineer from Universidad Panamericana (Mexico) and received an Executive MBA from IESE Business School.
Ben Langdon, CEO, SEREN UK

Ben believes that good digital agencies need to be ‘strategically’ important and ‘business critical’ to clients, if they are to be profitable. Ben has been an acclaimed CEO of global, regional and domestic marketing services agencies for over 20 years. McCann-Erickson was voted ‘Agency of the Year’ in the UK under Ben’s leadership. In his time there he created McCann Relationship Marketing, doubled the advertising company’s revenues to £44m and catapulted it from No 14 to No2 in the UK league tables. In 2006 he created Digital Marketing Group plc and by 2009 it was the UKs largest digital marketing agency. He was recently voted No 1 in the UKs ‘Power 100’ for digital direct marketing professionals and in 2010 he was declared a winner of the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ awards hosted by Ernst and Young.

David Chan, Director, The Information Leadership Network, Cass Business School, London

David Chan is the Director of the Information Leadership Network, Cass Business School. David was one of the first board-level IT Directors in the UK and the winner of the Royal Television Society's Award for Innovation in 1999. In a leadership career spanning 3 decades, David has worked for both vendor and buyer across many industry sectors. His focus is now on improving the advanced education provision for Information Leaders and raising the profile of Information Leadership to the business community as a whole. David has experience in Financial Services as a board-level IT Director. He was the CIO of the 11th largest mortgage lender in the UK prior to moving into the Higher Education sector.

Conor McCarthy, Head of Consumer Channel Optimisation, AIB

Conor has over 18 years Direct Financial Services experience spanning General Insurance, Life & Pensions & Banking sector’s specialising in marketing, customer loyalty, product development and social media. Conor is currently Head of Consumer Channel Optimisation with AIB and his responsibilities include developing strategies and campaigns that support and promote the adoption of AIB Direct Channels Ways to Bank (Internet, Mobile , Self Service and Phone Banking) as well as new to market propositions for AIB Direct Banking Channels. Conor led the concept development and content creation for AIB's award winning digital store The Lab and is also currently acting Head of Social Media for AIB Group.

Colm Lyon, CEO, Realex Payments

Colm Lyon is the founder and CEO of Realex Payments and Realex Financial Services Limited, (the latter is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland), both regarded as highly innovative payment business. He has grown Realex Payments to be one of Europe’s largest online payment gateways – now processing in excess of 20B euro per annum. Realex Payments processes online payments for over 12,000 retailers, including some of the world’s leading brands – Vodafone, Aer Lingus, Virgin Atlantic, Paddy Power, Chain Reaction Cycles, AA, 32Red, notonthehighstreet.com to name a few. Colm is a strong leader and drives the business forward within a strategic framework that sees an appropriate balance between innovation and operations. Realex Payments employs 170 people, has clients in 30 countries and offices in Dublin, London and Paris.

His latest venture – Realex Financial Services is a regulated Payments Institution offering consumer and business payment accounts - branded as Realex Fire, it aims to transform the way people and businesses pay and are paid. Realex Fire has been developed over several years and it is designed to make payments more social, safe, mobile and less expensive. At its core is an account that connects to the clearing systems – across Europe.
Colm is heavily involved in working with the internet community – chairing the Irish Internet Association for several years and founding the Internet Growth Alliance. The latter was a significant force within the internet community and contributed to the highly acclaimed Internet Growth Acceleration Programme (iGAP). He has been acknowledged with numerous awards over the years (see below). Colm is a regular industry speaker on payments, business start-up and strategy.

Dr. Richard Southern, Director of Analytics, Deloitte

Richard is Director of Analytics and leads analytics across Deloitte Ireland. He specialises in the use of predictive analytics solutions across several industries and sectors. Richard has extensive experience in applying machine learning and advanced analytical techniques to real world problems and effective data visualisation. He has a deep functional expertise in predictive analytics and modelling, problem solving and analytical resource development and has built data science teams to support the effective delivery of analytics. Richard has held consulting, financial services, industry and academic posts and currently lectures in credit risk modelling on the MSc in Risk Management with the Institute of Bankers and UCD. Richard holds an MSc and PhD in Engineering and an MSc in Risk Management.

Garvan Callan, Head of Direct Channels, Bank of Ireland

Garvan Callan was appointed as Head of Direct Channels for Bank of Ireland in September 2013 and is responsible for developing and driving the performance of Bank of Irelands Direct strategy across telephone, digital and social channels, ensuring the successful integration of Bank of Ireland’s channel proposition to achieve service excellence for customers

Garvan has also held a number of executive positions with other financial institutions including Danske Bank and Ulster Bank (part of the RBS Group) with leadership responsibilities in the areas of Strategy, Operation and Sales & Marketing across Retail & Corporate Private Banking
Garvan is a member of the Executive Committee of the Institute of Bankers, a graduate of the Life Insurance Association, and has recently completed an executive programme at Harvard Business School.

Bernard Byrne, Director of Personal Business & Corporate Banking & Executive Director, AIB Group

Bernard is a Director of AIB and has executive responsibility for all Corporate, Business and Personal customers in Ireland. Bernard joined AIB Group in May 2010 as Chief Financial Officer. In May 2011 he was appointed Director of Personal & Business Banking.

Prior to AIB he was Group Financial and Commercial Director for the electricity utility ESB, where he had also been a member of the Board. During his early career, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and then spent four years as Commercial Director for ESB International. He joined IWP International plc as Group Finance Director in 1998, later being appointed Deputy Chief Executive and Finance Director. He left to join ESB as Group Finance Director in 2004.

Michael Liam Ó Móráin, Thought Leader in Digital Financial Services, Engineer, Entrepreneur and Formerly Interim Managing Director, Digital Banking, Barclays, London

Liam is a thought leader in the application of digital technology in financial services. An engineer by profession, entrepreneur by vocation, practical innovator, and strategist by track record. Most recently Liam was interim Managing Director Digital Banking as Barclays in London.
