Predictive Analytics: Why it matters and How to Realize it

Thursday, October 31st, 2019

Predictive analytics is the use of historical data and statistical models to identify the likelihood of future events. The goal is to go beyond knowing what has happened to providing a best likelihood of what will happen in the future. The business value of predictive analytics is to proactively anticipate business outcomes, behaviours, and events to better plan and respond thereby enabling better business performance.

While the prospect of predictive analytics is exciting for many in the business, most of them are fully mystified about where to begin. Of those who did initiate, many of them have ended up asking the wrong questions, selecting incorrect statistical models, and ingesting the wrong data into the statistical model ultimately resulting in poor insights and business outcomes.

So, how does one approach and implement predictive analytics in business? To answer this pressing question, SAS is presenting a free 1-hour predictive analytics session on Thursday, October 31st at our Calgary downtown office as part of the Thought Leadership Breakfast Series: Seize the Data.   Apart from providing a quick overview of predictive analytics, this session will provide two practical applications where predictive analytics models were applied for improving business performance.
