Stijn Baert
Professor in empirical labor economics
Stijn Baert was born in Lokeren, Belgium on 14 October 1983. In 2006, he became Master of Science in Computer Science Engineering ('Burgerlijk Ingenieur'), in 2008 Master of Science in Economics and in 2013 Doctor of Economic Sciences from Ghent University, Belgium. For his academic achievement in the Master of Science in Economic Sciences he received in 2008 the 'VDK Award'. Between 2008 and 2020 he worked as a teaching assistant, researcher and tenure track professor at the Department of Social Economics at Ghent University.
Since 1 October 2020 he has worked as a full-time associate professor in empirical labour economics at Ghent University. In addition, he is affiliated to University of Antwerp as a part-time professor and to Université catholique de Louvain, Global Labor Office (GLO), IMISCOE and Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) as a Research Fellow.
Lesley Arens
Founder of ZigZagHR
Lesley Arens is the founder of #ZigZagHR; the HR professionals’ leading community in Dutch-speaking Belgium. By bringing together HR leaders and people management professionals, #ZigZagHR facilitates sharing of best practices around current and future trends in the field through a variety of inspiring events, podcasts, a print magazine and an interactive community platform on social media.
Michel Philippens
Analytics Advisor, Head of Customer Solutions
Michel is passionate about everything related to data analytics, and how you can use these to make smarter business decisions.
With a Master in Sociology and Statistics he first worked as a research assistant at the KU Leuven, but Michel soon joined SAS as a Senior Consultant.
Today he has 20 years of valuable experience in the world of data, truly seeing the world of analytics change.
His key philosophy: analytics don't belong in a lab test environment, they are part of everyday life.
