PRMIA Vienna Chapter Meeting
Impact of Net ZERO & Climate risk on bank strategies and customers
SAS Austria | Trabrennstrasse 2B | 1020 Vienna
June 18th 2024
The 2023 was the hottest year in the modern history. With the rising impact of the deteriorating climate, the policymakers are taking major steps towards decarbonization of economy, and the banks are working hard to identify and measure how this is going to impact the risk profile of their portfolios. In the context of the limited data and lack of industry golden standard & modelling best practices, the various modeling methodologies often rely on assumptions, expert judgment and expose banks to Model Risk. At the same time, banks are increasingly looking for ways how to leverage the above both in their day-to-day business decisions and strategically as they are exploring the impact of alternative transitions plans on their portfolios, and looking for the decarbonization strategy that comes with optimal tradeoff between carbon reduction, risks and returns.
Together with PRMIA and banking experts we will discuss how banks are developing and deploying climate risk analytics to adress the above challenges.
