Pär Söderlund is Nordic Finance Director at SAS Institute. He oversees the work of both the Nordic and Russian/CIS finance teams in delivering timely information to both internal and external customers.
Pär’s team have many touch points inside and outside of SAS: Internal customers include global headquarters and local/regional managers who need reports and sound advice on all financial matters, while local tax authorities have differing demands depending on the specific country of operation.
To achieve all this and still have time to contribute on the strategic level, Pär is an avid every day user of SAS Institute’s own analytical tools for CFOs, including Visual Analytics and SAS FM.
“Having direct reports in several countries, it is essential to be able to see the consolidated numbers and have the ability to create ad hoc reports for our various stakeholders. With the right tools, much of the standard deliverables of the financial department that give us licence to operate are taken care of much easier. This allows us to spend more time in dialogue with the business units and contribute our knowledge here, for example about how to best structure deals with clients or how we can help IT or Marketing get more value for their investments,” says Pär.
Pär returned to SAS in his current role in 2013, having first worked 11 years as Swedish CFO starting in 1993. In the interim years, he held similar roles at Com Hem, UPC Sweden and DNB.
In his spare time, Pär is a hobby photographer and enjoys capturing both landscapes and cityscapes.
