Do you know how your food choices affect climate change?
The cultivation, production and transportation of food products produces Green House Gas Emissions (GHGE). Livestock alone contributes 14% to earth’s total emissions, this is equivalent to the emission of all transportation worldwide. The emissions of some types of food production, like beef, is significantly higher than others, like black beans. Therefore, what we eat has an astounding impact on the environment we live in. .
Figuring out what food has less impact isn’t easy. For example, should you have pancakes for breakfast or croissants? Shockingly, choosing croissants over pancakes results in nearly 10 times more emission per year! Cooking and eating in a way that minimizes our impact on the environment should be easy and fun. At OCS Consulting we combine the power of SAS Viya and Python to build a recommendation system! Through an app we want to suggest delicious recipes with low environmental impact.
