When Marc Hoit began working as CIO at NC State several years ago, he found that it was like most other universities around the country: It was not managing data very effectively. NC State collected vast amounts and types of data through multiple layers of IT systems. But making all that data available, connected and usable to everyone who needed it was a massive challenge. Hoit tackled the issue by working with SAS to create a full view of diverse data that spanned departments, colleges, functions and activities.
