SAS again #2 among best German ICT employers

Software manufacturer affirms high position in 2015 Great Place to Work® ranking; Education and training key aspects of positive workplace culture

SAS, one of the world's leading software manufacturers, has again demonstrated its stature as a high quality employer. In the new ranking for "2015 Best Employer in IT," the company successfully defended last year’s #2 spot in the category of 100-500 employees. The employer rankings for the German IT industry is developed by research and advisory institute Great Place to Work®.

SAS has been recognized among the world's best employers for years, and finds itself regularly among the top finishers in Germany. The awards are a testament to the quality of the work environment SAS has provided since the company was founded in 1976. One result is an unusually high level of employee loyalty. Because SAS nurtures long-term loyalty among employees, staff turnover is very low in comparison to others in the IT sector.

Employee development and workplace culture play a central role in the company. SAS provides its employees with maximum support, both professionally and personally. This ranges from childcare and legal advice to health promotion. There are also flexible working arrangements and education and training initiatives.

"The formula is simple: people will do a good job if they enjoy the work. And if they find a framework that gives them the opportunity to develop themselves," explains Wolf Lichtenstein, CEO DACH region and Managing Director SAS Germany. "To maintain this framework, we take exceptional care of SAS employees – both from a company-wide perspective and in dialogue with each individual. The result: a working environment that reminds people that the company cares about them and promotes constructive cooperation. This is not an end in itself, however. The bottom line is that this corporate culture supports the achievement of business objectives and forms an important foundation for SAS’ sustained success.”

"The fact that our employees are so satisfied is certainly related to SAS pursuing the concept of lifelong learning," said Dorothea Schwalbach, Human Resources Director and Member of Management at SAS Germany. "Development and skill building are always high on our agenda. With appropriate training, we ensure that our employees can stay up-to-date and in touch with the times. As a company, we gain from their upgraded knowledge and skills. That’s why we try to offer employees exactly what they need based on their lifestyles, and not restrict ourselves to more typical incentives."
