SAS, George Washington University Collaborate on Business Analytics Education Programs

The George Washington University School of Business incorporates SAS technology, coursework and expertise into academic programs in an effort to help address a growing demand for analytics talent.

Some SAS professionals work with GWSB to develop curriculum and instructional  materials as well as teach in the school’s master of science in business analytics program, the company said Tuesday.

“Our business analytics program gives students a rock-solid foundation in the methodologies, technologies and skills to solve real-world business problems,” said Gil Yancey, executive director of GWSB’s F. David Fowler Career Center.

The university will start to offer a SAS Certificate in Business Analytics this fall and the 15-credit certification program will work to help MSBA students analyze real-world data with the use of descriptive, predictive and prescriptive methods.

Students enrolled in GWSB’s masters and certificate programs have an opportunity to network with analytics professionals such as those serving on the MSBA advisory board.

“It’s not enough to just do the technical work,” noted Jerry Oglesby, senior director for the SAS Global Academic Program and Global Certification.

“Today’s analytics professionals must be adept at communicating meaning to inform business decisions,” Oglesby added.

SAS collaborates with more than 150 universities and colleges worldwide to develop future analytics experts.
