About this paper
When Marc Hoit began working as CIO at NC State several years ago, he found that it was like most other universities around the country: It was not managing data very effectively. NC State collected vast amounts and types of data through multiple layers of IT systems. But making all that data available, connected and usable to everyone who needed it was a massive challenge. Hoit tackled the issue by working with SAS to create a full view of diverse data that spanned departments, colleges, functions and activities. With access to all this rich data, university leaders can find relationships never before imagined – which helps them make better-informed strategic decisions and uncover exciting future possibilities.
