Leslie Anne Keown
PhD, Senior Research manager,
Correctional Service of Canada

Leslie-Anne Keown, Ph.D. is currently the Senior Research Manager for the Special Projects and Data Management Team within the Research Branch at the Correctional Service Canada. Previously, she worked for Statistics Canada as an analyst/editor for Canadian Social Trends and managed a Statistics Canada Research Data Centre at the University of Calgary. Dr. Keown is also an Adjunct Research Professor with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University and an Adjunct Graduate Professor with Justice Studies at the University of Regina. She routinely teaches courses on social statistics /methodology and various criminal justice topics, as well as supervising graduate students conducting research utilizing mixed methods or advanced quantitative methodologies. Dr. Keown has published and presented extensively on a wide range of issues including articles in Canadian Medical Association Journal, Canadian Journal of Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology, Canadian Journal of Sociology, Journal of Paediatric Psychology and Early Childhood Development and Care.


Ed Summers

Ed Summers is a blind software engineer and an accessibility specialist. He has a B.S. in Computer Science and 25 years of professional experience as a software developer and a development manager. Ed’s personal mission is to enable people with disabilities to realize their full potential in the classroom and the 21st century knowledge economy. He fulfills that mission as a leader in the software industry and disability-related not-for-profit organizations. 

Ed is Director of Accessibility at SAS, the market leader in analytics software and services. The SAS accessibility team enables people of all abilities to access the power of analytics. Ed also serves on the Advisory Council for the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and the North Carolina Board of Education Advisory Council for the Governor Morehead School for the Blind.


Gérard Étienne

Gérard Étienne is a renowned Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) strategist. He has worked with world-class organizations in the public, not-for-profit and private sectors that needed to maximize the convergence and collaboration of individuals of diverse identities, experiences, and ideas. He specializes in readiness assessment, intercultural development for executives, ED&I strategic planning, leadership, human resources renewal, and organization development. He is an author and lecturer at l’Université du Québec en Outaouais.

Mr. Étienne is a Senior Associate with DiversiPro Inc. He is a former Vice-president at TD Bank Financial Group, Vice-president of Operations at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Vice-president Human Resources at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Vice President Diversity Initiatives at the Institute on Governance. He is the Vice-Chair of the Community Equity Council for the Ottawa Police Service.


Tara Holland
Sr. Manager, Canadian Government Solutions
SAS Canada

Tara Holland currently leads the Federal Government Solutions team for SAS Canada.  This team provides technical leadership and business guidance to the Government of Canada.  Over her tenure at SAS she had held several analytic leadership roles supporting Federal, Provincial, Public Safety and Healthcare organizations across the country. Tara is also the Canadian representative on the Global Government team to enable sharing of skills and expertise internationally. 

Based in Ottawa, Tara has been with SAS for over 20 years supporting Predictive Analytic, Artificial Intelligence and Visualization solutions.  Her passion is in bridging the gap between Business and IT and enabling organizations to deliver on the value of Analytics.

Prior to joining SAS, Tara led the Data Mining team at Canada Revenue Agency and lived the real-life challenges faced by organizations wanting to be more data and analytics driven.  She also held positions in IT management, application architecture and business analysis at CRA, Saskatchewan Economic Development and Statistics Canada.
