Chartis deems SAS a category leader for data management and business intelligence for risk
SAS ranked as a category leader in Chartis' inaugural RiskTech QuadrantTM for Data Management and BI , which credits the business analytics leader for "completeness of offering" and "market-share potential."
"SAS risk solutions were named a category leader due to their comprehensive portfolio, incorporating data management, business intelligence and risk analytics," said Peyman Mestchian, Managing Partner at Chartis. "The recent SAS product developments relating to in-memory risk analytics, visualization and streaming data to aggregate and analyze complex risk exposures demonstrates increased focus on addressing the risk and compliance needs of global banks and capital markets firms."
Chartis' report on Data Management and BI for Risk recognized the importance of simplified, streamlined data management solutions that deliver trusted, secure data for risk analysis and reporting. SAS® Data Management combines data integration, data quality, master data management and data governance with a comprehensive banking data model. The result: a single source of trusted risk data that users can quickly analyze and firmwide business intelligence and reporting for banking and trading books. SAS Data Governance helps firms address regulatory compliance requirements through business rule validation and integrity controls, consistent data terminology, robust audit trails, and end-to-end data lineage that collaborate with risk model validation and management.
For BI, Chartis finds that the best solutions blend visualization, analytics, dashboards and mobile reporting together for fast, self-service access. With SAS Visual Analytics, all risk managers can quickly visualize data to easily explore all relevant risk. Chief risk officers, business executives and risk professionals can swiftly analyze in-memory big data to answer enterprise risk questions on demand. SAS Visual Analytics delivers interactive, compelling Web and mobile reports that enable interactive regulatory data analysis to easily spot patterns and trends and answer regulatory questions. Taken together, SAS helps banks become more "risk intelligent" according to Chartis.
Integrating high-performance event-stream processing and risk analytics was a noted trend, says Chartis, for meeting risk aggregation demands in capital markets. Firms engaged in global investment banking, trading, asset management, and custodian activities must quickly integrate and aggregate high volume, low-latency trading data for volatile market risk exposure, liquidity and counterparty risk analysis. The SAS Event Stream Processing Engine continuously integrates trading, position and pricing data from disparate risk systems into SAS High-Performance Risk. Users can then analyze aggregated risk exposures across the trading book, drilling and stress testing interactively at any level of detail.
"Global banks and capital markets firms must improve risk management while addressing dramatic increases in regulatory requirements," said David M. Wallace, SAS Global Financial Services Marketing Manager. "Firms must coax higher speed and mileage from the maze of distinct risk systems implemented decades ago. SAS turbocharges the integration, analysis and visualization of aggregated risk data to help firms quickly and easily meet regulatory and business needs with existing infrastructure."
