About this paper
The Oregon Youth Authority uses a broad range of data sources to provide an objective way of understanding each youth involved in the juvenile justice system. For example, one tool predicts the likelihood of a repeat offense. Another provides clarity into the type of youth under consideration, to better understand personality attributes that affect success. And a third tool combines insights from both to predict the likelihood of a youth’s success when placed in different environments. This information helps practitioners in multiple agencies make more informed decisions about placements, treatment plans and community support services.
