SAS recognized as a Best Workplace for Women

Female employees appreciate engaging work, professional development, benefits and work/life balance

Analytics leader SAS continues to be recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the 100 Best Workplaces for Women in the US. SAS has been featured on this list for four years by providing meaningful work alongside benefits and opportunities that inspire and motivate its female workforce. Women are crucial to SAS’ success since they represent nearly half of its US workforce and hold 35 percent of leadership positions.

SAS provides a variety of opportunities for women to develop their careers and stay engaged in their work. From programs like the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN), where female employees can interact and network with other career-minded members to grow personally and professionally, to developing software that helps solve humanitarian issues – SAS’ innovative culture empowers and inspires women.

As a 2018 Great Place to Work® For All™ Leadership Award recipient, Oita Coleman can attest to SAS’ supportive and motivating workplace. “The inspiring and encouraging culture at SAS helps me to not only excel as a leader of the software quality division but also empowers me to build strong collaborative relationships with my colleagues and teams based on mutual respect,” said Coleman, Vice President of Research and Development at SAS. “Leading a global organization of over 800 team members in the US, India, China and Scotland, I appreciate the resources at SAS to foster trust and encourage performance within my division that resonates throughout the company.”

In addition to offering enriching and challenging work, SAS has set the workplace culture standard for more than 40 years, promoting an environment for employees to balance their career and personal life. SAS invests in on-site amenities such as a free recreation and fitness center and a free health care center with a full-service pharmacy. Working mothers benefit from subsidized child care, meals to go, parenting workshops, lactation consultants, and work/life counselors and seminars.

“This year, we pledged to close the employee experience gender gap by 2020, and these winning organizations are leading the way in achieving this mission, proving that all companies, regardless of their industry, size, or complexity, can be great workplaces for women,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Empowering women in the workplace isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s a business imperative. Organizations can create their own equitable cultures by learning from the companies on this list, who get women’s buy-in of the mission and inspire them to innovate, driving the entire company forward.”

The list considered 540,000 employee surveys from companies certified by Great Place to Work. The ranking gauged women’s assessment of their organizations’ culture, leadership, fairness and other elements essential for a great workplace.

SAS is also recognized annually as one of Fortune’s Great Places to Work in the US and a World’s Best Workplace. SAS has recently received distinctions as a top place to work in IT, for millennials, and for diversity and inclusivity, and ranked on People’s 50 Companies That Care list.
