Innovation Lead - Global Security Intelligence Practice - SAS Global
JR Helmig has spent his 20+ year career solving big data challenges for the world’s largest companies, as well as for the US departments of Defense, Homeland Security and Treasury, and the intelligence community. An intuitive change agent, his cross-industry role is to develop and execute SAS' global security and intelligence strategy at the convergence of Public and Private sectors and ecosystems. Formerly he was the Chief Analytics Officer for SAS’ Federal Unit, where he guided data collection and analytical strategies and strengthened data-based decision making.
Helmig is rated as a U.S. Government Master-Level Subject Matter Expert, with experience in analytical operations as well as strategy and technology development. As a Senior Advisor (GS-15) for the Office of the Director, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), Helmig successfully created, led, or supported initiatives positively impacting 80% of the bureau’s published technology, analytical, and workforce priorities. His May 2014 webinar on Cross Institutional Data Analysis had ACAMS’ largest attendance ever, with 4,500+ registrants from over 2,000 companies in 100+ countries.
In 2013 he founded Leveraged Outcomes LLC, an executive consulting practice. Mr. Helmig gained experience in finance pre 9/11 by managing $100M+ portfolios for global companies such as Merrill Lynch & Co. and for boutique financial engineering firms. Helmig is also an active member of trade associations,
such as Business Executives for National Security (BENS). He worked with the Assoc. of Certified Financial Crime Specialists (ACFCS) to create the global Certified Financial Crimes Specialist certification
