Bhartesh Shah
Chief Operations Officer, Equity Bank

Bhartesh holds an MBA from the University of Warwick and a Bachelor Of Science (Hons.) in Banking and Finance from Loughborough University. He has over 18 years of banking experience with multiple financial institutions in various capacities and in different locations. Bhartesh has in-depth experience in the financial services industry covering corporate finance, corporate banking, transaction banking, wealth management, bancassurance, product management and retail banking. He previously worked for Midland Bank (HSBC), UK; Standard Chartered Bank, Kenya, Botswana and Singapore; and Citibank, Africa. Bhartesh’s immediate former roles were Head of Retail Banking SCB Kenya and East Africa and Head Of Digital banking, Africa. Bhartesh joined Equity bank in 2015.

Temitope Akinwumi

Temitope is a seasoned hands-on Data Analyst with strong technical, analytical & commercial expertise in extracting and modeling complex big/small data sets to provide accurate, actionable and Insightful information that facilitate 'FACT-BASED' decision making.

Samuel Allotey is the Head of Insights at Vodafone Ghana. With over 15 years in marketing research, starting at Research International, he has previously led research and insights teams in Cadbury and MTG – Viasat 1. At Vodafone where he has been since 2010, he leads his team to ensure the customer voice is taking on board at all levels of decision making within the organisation.

Adeolu Dairo
Director Consumer Segment Marketing, Etisalat

Adeolu is the Director, Consumer Segment Marketing within the Commercial division of Etisalat Nigeria. In this role, he leads the various consumer segments which include the youth, mass market and the high value segment. As part of his portfolio, he leads the mobile broadband and customer value management functions.

Muzammil Ebrahim
Associate Director, Risk Advisory - Data Analytics, Deloitte

Over the last 12+ years Muzzi has built up core experience and capability in linking data and technology capabilities and solutions to business problems, predominantly in the risk and regulatory space within some of SA’s largest Financial Services providers (amongst other organisations). During his tenure at Deloitte, he has worked with many key clients to address a range of issues relating to the use of data and analytics to support and solve for regulatory compliance requirements. Muzzi has through this focused effort built core capability in and now leads the Regulatory Analytics agenda for Risk Advisory - Data Analytics which will support (and lead) the firms efforts around both current and future regulatory focus areas (such as Financial Crime, IFRS, Basel, PoPI, etc.).

Abhik Gupta
Managing Director, Nielsen East and West Africa Cluster

Abhik Gupta currently serves as the head of Nielsen’s commercial operations in East and West Africa leading the teams responsible for all client engagement, strategy and operational execution across the East, West and Central African markets. He is based out of Lagos, Nigeria. PJ (Riaan) de Jongh is the Director of the Centre for Business Mathematics and Informatics® (BMI) at North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, South Africa. The Centre for BMI specialises in training students for professional degrees in Business Analytics / Data Science, Quantitative Risk Management, Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Science. Riaan holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Cape Town and is an author and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed papers. He has been the recipient of a number of national and global awards.

Ato Micah
Country Director, Nielsen Ghana

Ato leads the Nigeria Retail and Ghana Nielsen business. His most recent role was Country Manager for Nielsen Ghana, and prior to that he was the Client Business Partner for Unilever and Pepsi for Sub-Sahara Africa. With 16 years work experience, Ato spent over a decade in brand management roles with Procter and Gamble and Sun Products and market research with Millward Brown and IPSOS - all in in the US. Ato attended Oberlin College in Ohio, USA and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Johann Myburgh

JP (Johann) Myburgh is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Business Mathematics and Informatics® (BMI) at North-West University’s Potchefstroom Campus in South Africa. Helgard Raubenheimer
Associate Professor in the Centre for BMI, North-West University

Helgard Raubenheimer is an Associate Professor in the Centre for BMI, at the North-West University. He received a Ph.D. in Risk Analysis from the North-West University. His main research interest is in quantitative risk management and includes market and operational risk, credit risk, fixed income portfolio optimisation and model validation.

He lectures enterprise-wide risk management and practical risk management to post graduate students. He has also supervised several master degree students on their industry research projects, is involved in industry directed research projects and is an author and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed papers. He has been the recipient of a number of national and global awards.

Dr. Joseph Sevilla, Ph.D.
Director @iLabAfrica, Strathmore University

Dr Joseph Sevilla is the Founder and Director of @iLabAfrica, a Research and Innovation Centre at Strathmore University (Nairobi, Kenya). He is also the Director of @iBizAfrica, a Business Incubator. He graduated as an Industrial Engineer (Universidad del País Vasco, Spain) and holds an MSc in Computer Science (University College London, UK) and a PhD in Bioinformatics (TECNUN, Universidad de Navarra, Spain). Jonathan Sproule
Risk Modelling and Credit Analytics Manager, African Bank

Jonathan is a risk modelling and credit analytics manager at African Bank. He previously worked at Absa, Nedbank and Standard Bank Group covering various topics including Response Models, Propensity Models, Credit Risk Models in the Unsecured Lending space, Customer Segmentation and ad-hoc analysis. He has a wealth of experience working with Credit Bureau Data and Large Volumes of data. Currently he is working in an analytical role where he builds statistical models to aid the business in making informed decisions.

Jonathan holds an Honours degree in Mathematical Statistics from the University of the Witwatersrand and is currently studying part time towards a second Honours Degree in “Big Data” Analytics at the same University.

David Cosgrave
MEA Customer Intelligence Lead, SAS

David Cosgrave is the Middle East and Africa lead for Customer Intelligence at SAS with over 15 years experience in CRM and marketing automation. David brings a wealth of experience at banks, telecommunications providers, retailers and insurers across the region, and has helped some of the largest organizations on the continent with deploying a customer engagement strategy, powered by data and analytics.

Colin Hill
SSA Qualitative Risk Management Lead, SAS

As the Solution Manager for Qualitative Risk, Colin’s main objective is to support Risk Management related  Sales and Pre-Sales activities in the South Africa and Rest of Africa region.  He works closely with Sales, COE’s, Research & Development and Professional Services departments of SAS to support customer requirements, advocacy meetings and demonstrations to expand market influence in the area of credit scoring and risk analytics.

Colin is a Qualitative Risk Management professional with more than 25 years experience in one of the largest banks in South Africa focussing on Operational Risk Management, Internal Audit and Fraud risk. He worked for Absa Bank prior to moving to SAS. Read more

Yigit Karabag
MEA Analytics Lead, SAS

Yigit is SAS’ Information Management & Analytics Practice Manager since April 2014. He has 15 years of domain experience in information management and has been involved in large scale projects dealing with structured and unstructured data across the banking, telco and public sectors respectively.

Yigit is also a board member for various data management organizations and a regular speaker at data management & data governance events. He holds a degree in Computer technology and Programming from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey.

William Lawrence
SSA Fraud & Financial Crime Lead, SAS

William is responsible for the Fraud and Financial Crime (FFC) practice across the Sub-Sahara region for SAS. He provides fraud expertise to the sales, presales and subject matter expert teams across various industries including banking, insurance, healthcare, industrial, mining, telecommunications and government sectors.

Business Solutions Manager for Advanced Analytics, SAS

Anesh Ramaloo is a Business Solutions Manager for Advanced Analytics at SAS. He previously headed up the Analytics division at Genesis Analytics providing Analytical based consulting services across the consumer life cycle.

Prior to this, Anesh was based in Cape Town for about 8 years where he worked for Direct Axis as a Credit and Risk Specialist and was responsible for the management of Unsecured Portfolio’s within the organisation. His expertise extended to managing bad debt and profitability, reviewing credit appetite and risk strategy as well as developing and validation of credit scoring models.
