About the Expert


Jason DiNovi
Health Care Industry Consultant, SAS

Jason DiNovi has been part of the insurance industry for 15 years, with over a decade dedicated to medical fraud analytics. Creating analytics innovation with the implementation of previously unused pattern recognition and heuristic methodologies for detecting fraud, waste and abuse, Jason worked within and alongside commercial SIUs to build foundational queries and reports. He assisted in establishing standard operating procedures for implementing FWA business rules.

Over several years designing analytics solutions for commercial health payers, Jason developed extensive expertise in billing, adjudication and outside data sources to identify anomalous behaviors.

Jason holds a master’s degree in predictive analytics with a concentration in health care and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He is also a Certified Professional Medical Auditor accredited by the American Academy of Professional Coders.


John Maynard
Principal Industry Advisor, Global Security Intelligence Practice, SAS

John Maynard is an expert in fraud and risk, specializing in health care and government. Maynard has worked for nearly 25 years in government and has a broad background in federal, state and local programs. A former auditor, he has experience with health care providers, banking, insurance and financial services in the private sector. Maynard has held senior leadership positions in government, and studies and promotes leadership and developing leaders. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and accounting from Otterbein University. Maynard is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited Health Care Fraud Investigator (AHFI®), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
