SAS Ireland again among Best Places to Work
SAS is among the top 10 employers on the Great Place to Work® Institute’s prestigious "Best Workplaces Ireland 2016" list of companies with fewer than 100 employees. The analytics leader was listed at #7 after finishing 17th last year.
Great Place to Work (GPTW) Ireland is part of a global network with offices in 48 countries. The organization uses the same assessment methodology to publish 45 country lists, as well as regional and global lists. The best known of these is the Fortune 100 list of Best Companies to Work For in the United States. SAS, which has been #1 in the US and is regularly included among the top five, has now held one of the top two positions for five straight years in GPTW’s World’s Best Multinational Workplaces listing.
The SAS culture aims to encourage creativity, which drives the innovation needed to find the best solutions for its customers. This stems from CEO Jim Goodnight’s simple philosophy: “Treat employees like they will make a difference and they will.”
Because of this culture, the analytics leader has also been recognizsed across the globe as a best workplace for millennials and recent graduates, as well as women and working parents. SAS not only invests in employee career development, but also health and well-being through dedicated services, programs and benefits.
“The process of engaging the organization in the GPTW program has been very beneficial for SAS Ireland and we are delighted to have made the list again,” said John Lyons, SAS Regional Director (Ireland). “We spent a lot of time analyzing the results and the feedback from last year’s survey to develop an action plan to ensure we continue on the journey we started last year. This process was led by a team that represented the different functions in the organization, the feedback and recommendations of this group, in consultation with their peers, formed the action plan which basically means that the whole organization is engaged and connected to the process.”
The GPTW award honors relationships between employees and managers in five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie. The key defining feature of a great workplace is the level of trust among employees. For them, a great workplace is one where you trust and enjoy the people you work with, and take great pride in your work.
