Dear Reader,

For many students in the United States, the end of August is bittersweet – the excitement of the start of another school year, tempered with the end of the carefree and mostly lazy days of summer. True to form, two of my children quietly trudged off to school earlier this week, but for my oldest daughter, it was like Christmas Eve.

Mallory just started her senior year of high school, meaning she’s one step closer to entering college, moving out of the house and officially starting the next chapter in her life. She can’t wait. For me, though, it’s all gone way too fast. It seems like just yesterday she was starting preschool, and even though we knew this day would eventually come, it’s been surprisingly tough on my wife and me. Watching her drive off that first morning brought a lot of tears and melodramatic cries of “I’m losing my baby!” (My wife didn’t take it well either.)

OK, I guess maybe there’s a tiny part of me that’s excited for her. She’s entering a time of her life that’s full of possibilities, exciting new beginnings, and the promise of reaching her full potential – and that’s pretty cool.

At SAS Education, we have similar desires for our users, and we’ve always been committed to helping you expand your SAS® knowledge. That’s why we’re celebrating the start of school with a number of growth opportunities for SAS programmers and data scientists.

For starters, check out our upcoming SAS certification review session. On Thursday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. ET the SAS Global Certification team will share valuable information about what it takes to earn your SAS Certified Base Programmer credential for SAS®9. You’ll learn more about the structure of the exam, what topics are covered, effective tips for preparing to take the exam and answers to commonly asked questions.

If you’re ready to get certified, you can take advantage of back-to-school savings. For a limited time, we’re offering a 50% discount on SAS certification exam attempts between Sept. 1 and Oct. 15. Learn more details here.

If you’re looking to expand your analytical skills, another great growth opportunity is the SAS Academy for Data Science. First released as a classroom offering in the US, the program is now available as self-paced e-learning. It’s perfect for individuals who need greater flexibility in their schedules because of work, school or other commitments, and for organizations that need data science training for their teams. With nearly 300 hours of self-paced e-learning content available, you’ll learn all the skills you need for data science success and get a chance to earn globally recognized certification credentials, including the SAS Certified Big Data Professional, the SAS Certified Advanced Analytics Professional and, ultimately, the SAS Certified Data Scientist.

As the new school year begins, we encourage you tend to your own personal growth and take advantage of these and other learning opportunities from SAS Education. If you have any questions about our offerings or what learning options are best for you, just give us a call. We’re here to help ensure your success. And wherever you go, rest assured, we’ll be there cheering you on every step of the way.

Now would you mind passing the Kleenex?
