Dompé Farmaceutici - Reimagine Health Care: Predictive Medicine
It’s an increasing challenge to develop medications that address the most compelling, unmet present (cancer, metabolic, autoimmune and infective) diseases and future (aging) medical needs. It requires a paramount paradigm shift starting with a bold reimagining of the R&D process that results in a new role for health care in our data-driven society.
The current dogma to “divide and conquer” one disease with one drug collides with the intrinsic systemic and deeply interconnected nature of physiological and pathological processes.
The challenge of a new medicine leans on our ability to transform health care data into structured information that can feed enhanced models. Population-level profiling will unlock the development of truly predictive disease models based on quantitative system pharmacology algorithms.
Are new incomers from the information economy able to foster the evolution from actual research and development (trial-and-error method) to a method of model and cure (design on purpose)?
Presenters:
Andrea Beccari, Head of R&D Platforms and Services, Dompé Farmaceutici
Mark Lambrecht, Director of Global Health and Life Sciences Practice, SAS
