SAS is known for our dedication to education, and our conferences are no exception.

Free and discounted passes
All full-time students enrolled at degree-granting institutions receive free conference registration. And academic faculty and staff receive 50% off. Proof of eligibility is required, and discounts do not apply to training or certification. Conference registration opens in May.

Student Poster Contest

Present your work to industry leaders and participate in the Student Poster Contest. The top six poster winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to attend Analytics Experience 2017 in Washington, DC. This includes travel, hotel and conference registration fees.

This student-only competition is a great opportunity to showcase your analytical talent to a worldwide audience. Your work will be displayed digitally so attendees can browse poster submissions during break times in the networking hall in addition to attending your official presentation time.

To participate in the contest, you must be a full-time student at an accredited university or college. Read our official contest guidelines for submission instructions.

The Analytics Shootout is a great way to demonstrate modeling skills, gain valuable experience and earn recognition for your work. You also have the chance to win a trip to the conference and a donation for your school!

Who Can Enter
Student and faculty teams from any accredited college or university in the United States. See official rules (PDF).

Nature of the Competition
Teams will be given a hypothetical, but common, business problem to solve. Data will be provided, and the solution will require the selection and use of appropriate analytics and data mining methods using SAS® software.

This year’s problem will focus on understanding wildfires. See the complete Analytics Shootout 2017 problem statement (PDF).

The top three teams will be honored as the Analytics Shootout winners at Analytics Experience 2017, featured in press communications, and mentioned in SAS and IHBI publications. Members of leading teams will be provided with an all-expenses-paid trip for one team member and the faculty sponsor to Washington, DC, to attend and present at Analytics Experience 2017. The top three teams' universities will also receive donations from SAS.

Important Analytics Shootout 2017 Dates
Registration opens: Wednesday, Jan. 25
Registration closes: Tuesday, May 2
Deadline to make changes to teams: Tuesday, May 23
Submissions due: on or before noon ET, Friday, June 2
Notifications of finalists: early August
