Academic and Student Opportunities
SAS is known for our dedication to education, and our conferences are no exception.
Free and discounted passes
All full-time students enrolled at degree-granting institutions receive free conference registration. And academic faculty and staff receive 50% off. Proof of eligibility is required, and discounts do not apply to training or certification.
Academic Summit | Monday, Sept. 18 | 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Join us for an engaging session – bridging academic and industry leaders – to discuss the field of data science and analytics. The summit will feature a keynote presentation by Oliver Schabenberger, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of SAS, who previously served as Assistant Professor of Statistics in the Crop and Soil Sciences Department at Michigan State University and as Associate Professor of Statistics at Virginia Tech.
We will also recognize the top three teams in the Analytics Shootout competition and allow for plenty of networking time so organizations are able to meet their next data scientists.
Student Poster Contest
Thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract for the Student Poster Contest. The call for posters has now ended. The top six poster winners will be notified later this month and will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to attend Analytics Experience 2017 in Washington, DC. This includes travel, hotel and conference registration fees.
Student posters will be displayed digitally in the Innovation Hub so attendees can browse poster submissions during break times in addition to attending the official presentation times.
Student Poster Contest dates and deadlines
Call for posters closes: Aug. 2
Completed posters due for judging: Aug. 9
Contest winners notified: Aug. 21
Congratulations to our top three teams (in no particular order)
Team 1 – Southern Methodist University
Team 13 – University of Central Florida
Team 52 – University of Oregon
The top three teams will be honored at Analytics Experience 2017, featured in press communications, and mentioned in SAS and IHBI publications. One team member and the faculty sponsor will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, DC, to attend and present at Analytics Experience 2017. The top three teams' universities will also receive donations from SAS.
Nature of the Competition
Teams were given a hypothetical, but common, business problem to solve. Data was provided, and the solution required the selection and use of appropriate analytics and data mining methods using SAS® software.
