The Kayak Trail Tour is a wonderful introduction to Tarpon Bay and the coastal environment.
You will kayak with an experienced naturalist through the mangrove forest along Tarpon Bay’s Commodore Creek Trail.
The trail provides a unique and up-close perspective to the mangrove habitat. Paddlers will learn about the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge’s rich mangrove ecosystem and the wildlife living within it.
You’ll be surrounded by red mangroves, wading birds and unsurpassed peace and quiet.
Visitors to the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers will learn how Thomas Edison changed Fort Myers from a cattle town with 350 residents and no roads, electricity or railroads into what it is today.
Return to the 1920s as you walk through the nation’s only historic Botanic Research Laboratory where Edison, Ford and Firestone planted and researched more than 14,000 plants to find a source of natural rubber that could be planted in this country and commercially produced for uses in the automobile industry, factories, airplanes and other wartime needs.
The guided tour includes the Edison main, guest and caretaker’s house; the Ford Estate; and the Edison Botanic Research Lab.
A “must see” historical tour!
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon of golden sun and gentle breezes at the waterfront resort.
