I am confirming I checked with the correct university ethics counsel about this proposed event. The university counsel APPROVED this gift by SAS and my acceptance, and I provided all the following information to the counsel: SAS is a vendor and lobbyist in our state and proposes to host me at its campus for an overview of SAS products, a presentation by analytics experts, and a discussion about analytics in the sports arena. Once this meeting has concluded, SAS will provide transportation to the SAS Championship in Cary, NC. I will then be given passes to attend the event, as well as drinks and food at the event. The total value of the SAS gifts (pass, food, drinks and transportation) is estimated to be $59. I have the option to pay for these expenses at www.sas.com/paysas. SAS will not pay for hotel or air travel to its campus. If needed in the future, I will provide the email approval for this event from the ethics counsel.
