About the presenters



Melodie Rush

Melodie Rush, Principal Statistician for the Customer Loyalty Team, SAS

Melodie Rush is a Principal Statistician for the Customer Loyalty Team at SAS. Rush received both her BS in statistics and her MS in management with a technical option in statistics from North Carolina State University. Before joining SAS in 1996, Rush worked for Research Triangle Institute as a statistician. Her responsibilities included implementing national and local surveys on various topics such as health care, employee benefits and drug abuse. As part of her research, she has published work for both the American Statistical Association and the American Public Health Association. After joining SAS, Rush has developed presentations and methodology for doing many types of analysis, including data mining, forecasting, data exploration and visualization, quality control and marketing. She has spent the last 20 years helping companies identify and solve problems in each of these analytical areas.

 

 

Twanda Baker

Twanda Baker , Customer Loyalty Systems Engineer, SAS

Twanda Baker is a Customer Loyalty Systems Engineer at SAS. She has nearly two decades of technology training experience in the education industry. In 2013, Baker earned her Master of Science degree in advanced analytics from North Carolina State University. As a student, her concentration was retail forecasting. After graduation, she joined SAS and broadened her analytical focus to include data mining, text analytics and data visualization. In her current role, she helps companies identify solutions to their analytical challenges, delivers presentations at public conferences and conducts demonstrations for customer knowledge-sharing sessions.

SAS Rapid Predictive Modeler provides a quick, easy and effective way to develop predictive models that address a broad range of business scenarios. This session will take a deeper dive into the capabilities and benefits of SAS Rapid Predictive Modeler. Topics covered include accessing the task from SAS® Enterprise Guide®, SAS Studio and the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office (Excel), registering models in metadata, viewing the model process flow in SAS® Enterprise Miner™ and scoring a new data set using the SAS Enterprise Guide model scoring task.

Introduction to Text Analysis With SAS® Text Miner

Tuesday, August 8

SAS Text Miner, an add-on to SAS Enterprise Miner, relies heavily on data-driven techniques to explore patterns in unstructured text. The objective for this session is to increase awareness and comfort with the capabilities in SAS Text Miner. This presentation will demonstrate the steps for getting started, including parsing and filtering text data, analyzing data (including topic discovery and cluster analysis) and using text mining results as input to predictive modeling. Attendees will be provided with links to resources for learning more.
