RULES AND REGULATIONS
PRO-AM LOGISTICSHOSPITALITY EVENTS

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The SAS Championship will strictly adhere to United States Golf Association rules of play and PGA Tour Rules and Regulations. In addition, we have established our own rules and regulations to maximize your enjoyment and maintain fairness for all players.

Competition format
The SAS Championship Pro-Am will be contested under a Texas Scramble format, which means all players hit off the tee and choose the best amateur drive. All amateurs play their own balls from that position through the rest of the hole. Teams comprise one pro and four amateurs. The one net best ball in the group is recorded for each hole. Net par is the maximum that any amateur can take on a hole. Final standings will be determined based on the total score of one best ball in the group over 18 holes of competition.

Pairings
Amateur foursomes will be set at the Oct. 7 Pro-Am Pairings Party.

There are two shotgun starts each day of the Pro-Am (one at 8 a.m. and one at 1:15 p.m.). All Pro-Am participants will be in either a Wednesday morning/Thursday afternoon or Wednesday afternoon/Thursday morning rotation. Shotgun start assignments will be announced at the Pairings Party and no earlier. If you are unable to attend the party, please call the tournament office at 919-531-GOLF (919-531-4653) as early as 6 a.m. the first day of your Pro-Am play to find out your shotgun start assignment.

The Pro-Am draw will be conducted at the Pairings Party to determine Champions Tour professional team assignments.

Handicaps
The maximum allowable handicap under PGA Tour rules is 21 for men and 27 for women. Therefore, no handicaps will be granted above those limits. In addition, all handicaps will be verified prior to play. Please provide your golf handicap info when asked during registration. Any players not providing their handicap verifications will be categorized as a “0” (scratch handicap).

Pace of play
The round will be limited to four hours and 45 minutes. This limit will be strictly enforced by the PGA Tour, following its pace-of-play guidelines. Therefore, players who are “out of the hole” should pick up their balls so that play remains efficient.

Awards
Prizes will be awarded from first through third place for both Wednesday and Thursday. In the event of ties, final standings will be determined by a scorecard playoff, starting with hole No. 18 and working backward.

PRO-AM LOGISTICS

Golf carts
Carts will be provided, and all amateurs must use a golf cart. In addition, golf bags must stay on the carts at all times.

Driving range
Because of space restrictions, amateur practice time will be limited. Each player is requested to use 15 minutes of range time. We must adhere to this policy so that all amateurs receive an opportunity to warm up before their shotgun starts.

Attire
Prestonwood Country Club is a spike-free golf course. Absolutely no metal spikes will be allowed. Course attire includes slacks or walking shorts (no denim) and a collared shirt.

On-site registration
All amateurs must check in on Wednesday and Thursday before their scheduled shotgun starts. Please follow the signs to the Pro-Am registration at Prestonwood Country Club. Please plan to arrive 60 minutes before your shotgun start to register and warm up, or 90 minutes before your shotgun start if you plan to dine.

Credentials
You will receive both a Pro-Am credential and guest credential during on-site registration at Prestonwood Country Club. You may take the guest credential with you or leave it under your guest’s name at Will Call. Your credentials will grant you access to each Pro-Am function Wednesday and Thursday (e.g., meals, amateur locker room, driving range and hospitality area). Your guest will not be allowed in the amateur locker room. Please make sure you and your guest display credentials at all times while at the country club. Credentials will also grant Pro-Am amateurs and guests general tournament admission Friday through Sunday.

Parking
A clubhouse parking pass is not necessary on Wednesday or Thursday for the Pro-Am. Simply provide the security attendant with your name for immediate access to clubhouse parking. Valet parking is available at the bag drop area for all amateur players.

Bag drop and storage
As a guest of SAS, you will be offered complimentary bag transfers upon check-in at The Umstead Hotel and Spa and the Embassy Suites Raleigh-Durham/Research Triangle. For Embassy Suites guests, please drop your golf bag between 2 and 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the Registry Room (left side of meeting space entrance from lobby). For guests at The Umstead, please leave your clubs with the bellman. We will ensure that your bag is transferred to your golf cart at Prestonwood Country Club before your shotgun start each day. Please make sure your name is on your golf bag. We highly recommend that travel cases, accessories and loose items remain in your hotel room until check-out.

Upon checking out of your hotel on Thursday, you may bring your luggage and travel bag/case with you to Prestonwood. We will store them at the course for your airport departure.

Transportation
There will be transportation information desks in the lobby areas of both the Embassy Suites and Prestonwood Country Club.

Food and beverage service
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, and Thursday, Oct. 9, breakfast will be provided from 6 to 10:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the clubhouse. Pro-Am amateurs and their guests with proper credentials are welcome to attend.
