RMIT University adopts the SAS® Joint Certificate Program

SAS, the leader in analytics, has announced that RMIT University has joined the many other leading teaching institutions in Australia and worldwide that have adopted the SAS Joint Certificate Program.

The program addresses the global shortage of skilled analysts by helping universities prepare students to compete in today’s data-rich business environment.  The joint certificate records students’ coursework using SAS software to solve real-world business problems.

Students earning a joint RMIT/SAS certification can also claim an Academic Program Digital Badge, which allows students to communicate their credential in an ever-expanding online marketplace. Digital badges can be used in email signatures or digital résumés, and on social media sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. This digital image contains verified metadata that describes the qualifications and the process required to earn them.

Dr Mali Abdollahian, Program Manager for the Master of Analytics and Master of Statistics and Operation Research at RMIT, said of the move – “The SAS Joint Certificate program is designed so our students get to solve real-world business problems.

“It gives students a competitive advantage in the analytics job market and it’s a great way to give recognition to those who have shown excellence in using and applying SAS technologies.”

Responding, Ian Edwards – Head of Academic Outreach at SAS Australia and New Zealand – said, “Businesses of all types and sizes now recognise that analytics skills are key to improved productivity, competitive advantage and profitable growth. While in the public sector, government agencies, healthcare providers, security services and others, all look to analytics to improve services to the community and provide for the general wellbeing.

“We welcome RMIT University to the SAS Joint Certification Program and look forward to playing our part in their providing best-in-class analytics education into the future.”
