100,000th educator registers to use SAS' no-cost curriculum resources
A sponsor of 2013 Digital Learning Day, SAS® free education apps also growing in popularity
SAS, a sponsor of today's Digital Learning Day, fosters digital learning year-round through no-cost resources and support for educators. SAS® Curriculum Pathways® offers interactive learning tools in all core disciplines, mapped to state standards, for grades 6-12. Recently, the 100,000th educator signed up to use these Web-based resources that make learning more fun and can make educators more effective.
- SAS Flash Cards, featuring more than 75,000 flash cards plus tools to create custom decks, has been downloaded over 30,000 times in 77 countries. More than 3,000 user-created decks cover wide-ranging topics, from the ABCs to SAS programming certification. The SAS Flash Cards App is available from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and for Windows 8 from Windows 8 Apps.
- SAS Gloss, an app available for iPad, makes it simple for teachers to create, distribute and receive worksheets, tests and quizzes electronically. Students can enhance projects with graphics and imagery and then easily share work on SAS Gloss with teachers, family or friends.
- Also available as an app for iPad, SAS Data Notebook lets students control their learning and monitor progress. Featuring templates for mission statements, goals, checklists, plus/deltas, and histograms, it helps students set, monitor and reflect on individual goals by subject.
All three SAS apps are used in a successful iPad program at J.E. Ober Elementary in Garrett, IN. "With SAS Data Notebook, students become leaders of their own learning. They create charts and graphs to track their data and set goals for future learning," said Tonya Weaver, Principal of J.E. Ober. "The ability to email parents information from SAS Data Notebook has cultivated stronger partnerships with families, where learning and academic growth are at the center of our conversations."
It is simple to share work across the apps. "Not a day goes by when a SAS app is not being used in our classrooms," added Weaver.
"SAS has done more than create apps that engage learners. Because they fit seamlessly into the flow of instruction, the SAS education apps make a teacher’s job simpler, not more complicated," said Scott McQuiggan, Director, SAS Curriculum Pathways and SAS Mobile Education.
Digital Learning Day is a national campaign that celebrates teachers and shines a spotlight on successful instructional practice and effective use of technology in classrooms across the country.
In the coming months, SAS will release apps for early reading and fundamental math. In addition to the many SAS digital learning resources, SAS analytics and business intelligence software is used at more than 3,000 educational institutions worldwide for teaching, research and administration. SAS has more than three decades of experience working with educational institutions.
