Daniëlle Jacobs


Danielle Jacobs was appointed Chairman of INTUG in May 2011; before that she was INTUG’s Vice President Europe. She is also General Manager of BELTUG, the Belgian user group representing the Belgian professional users of communications technology and services.

Danielle is a member of the Belgian Consultative Committee on Telecommunications and a member of the Board of This is a Beltug, ISPA and Agoria established DNS and a non-profit organization.

Gery Pollet, Chairman Zapfi

Gery Pollet founded the company in 2010. In his role as Chief Executive Officer, Gery is responsible for the execution of ZapFi’s corporate strategy, market direction and day-to-day management.

Gery’s prior experience spans numerous roles including Managing Director, founder and corporate executive. Gery has a successful track record for bringing technology advanced ideas to market. Gery’s latest business success was Aquanta which was acquired by Artilium plc (a publicly listed company with AIM on the London Stock Exchange) in 2006. Aquanta specialised in the development of internet telephony applications (VoIP). Prior to that, Gery founded ITinera Services, an ISP with a focus on the SME market and the first ISP in Belgium to use satellite technology. ITinera was acquired by VersaTel Telecom International (later acquired by KPN). Gery’s first start-up was Planet & Partners, the first consumer Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Belgium. Planet & Partners was acquired by Cable & Wireless in 2000.

Claudio Contini

Claudio Contini is Telecom Italia Digital Solutions’ CEO, in charge of developing Telecom Italia’s positioning in adjacent markets addressing the relevant opportunities created by the development of the digital economy.
Claudio started his career in 1989 at SIP, the former Italian telecommunications monopolist, followed by participating in the early development of BT’s (formerly British Telecom) Italian branch. In 1994, he joined Telecom Italia with increasing responsibilities, from assistant to the head of the corporate division to marketing director for the business segment: in this role, he also started the development of Telecom Italia’s IT offering. Then, he moved to Sales, where in the last five years held various senior management positions as Sales VP for the business division. Claudio is also member of the board of directors in several Telecom Italia’s companies.

Claudio, 49 and married with two children, holds an Electrical Engineering Degree from the University La Sapienza in Rome and a Master’s Degree in Engineering and Economics from Stanford University, USA.

Giacomo Lorusso

Giacomo Lorusso is 43 years old. After his studies in Information Science, he worked in the IT Department of several Corporate Companies. In 2000 he joined Oracle and SAP in charge of Sales Management. At the beginning of 2010 Mr. Lorusso is appointed as a member of the SAS Board, Senior Sales Director Commercial and Public.

In 2013 he is appointed Head of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Asia Pacific SAS Telco Practice and Executive Member of the SEE (South East Europe) Region SAS.

He is married with two children.

Dirk Rohweder is a Strategic Advisor for Analytical Infrastructure at SAS Centre of Excellence EMEA & Asia Pacific. In this role he helps customers to articulate and operationalize their vision of Data Monetization and Data-, Analytics- and Decision Management.

Previous to joining SAS Dirk worked twelve years in senior positions at Deutsche Telekom as IT Director of T-Mobile UK, IT Director of T-Mobile Germany and SVP Solutions & Enabler for the Group. In this role he was responsible for the IT Transformation at Deutsche Telekom, the application standardization across the group and new group services like M2M or mobile wallet.

Before that he worked as the CIO of the Paulaner Brewery Group and Managing Director of their logistics company. He started his career at Gemini Consulting advising clients in the telecommunications and consumer goods industry.

Dirk holds a PhD in Business Administration and a masters degree in business data processing.

Kimon Zorbas, CEO, IAB Europe

Kimon Zorbas is Director at the Digital Business Consultancy Group (, a Brussels-based business and regulatory strategy firm. DBCG advises clients on cybersecurity, privacy, analytics, online advertising and telecoms.

Kimon is a recognised expert on digital business and European policy areas, is co-founder of a European start-up (an innovative data management platform), as well known public speaker and lecturer.

He served as CEO and Vice President for IAB Europe founding IAB’s policy department in 2009. During his time at IAB, Kimon spearheaded the debate against overly restrictive privacy legislation. Major policy successes included the avoiding a sectoral opt-in for cookies in the E-Privacy Directive, introduction of the concept of pseudonymous data in the draft Data Protection Regulation and launching of the sector’s first self-regulation regime (for Online Behavioural Advertising).

Previously to this post, he worked for a major global association, leading the debate against a software liability regime and breach notification. As in-house lobbyist for one of largest semiconductor producers, Kimon was working on biometric passports.

Kimon speaks English, French, German and Greek, is a fully qualified lawyer, having undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Tübingen, Germany and the K.U.Leuven, Belgium, respectively.

Hugues Rey began his carreer in ‘92 as Research Manager for Media+Square (now WPP Mindshare) and then as Research Director for Initiative Media in ‘98. In 2000, he created Fastbridge - the digitale agency of Initiative Media. In 2006 & 2007, Hugues was the Digital Director Europe Middle East Africa for Initiative.
In 2008, he has been promoted as Chief Strategy Officer for Mediabrands.
He began at Havas Media in Sept 2010 where he is now the CEO. Hugues is also active in many professional media associations (UMA (President 2012-2013) - CIM (president of TV Commission TV, former president Internet-commission) – GRP – IAB.

He is responsible for several readings at Solvay Brussels School. Hugues has his own blog called “I‘m a Bridge” (

In 2010, Hugues was very proud to receive a “Lifetime Achievement Award” during the Mixx Award.

Matthieu Joosten

After finishing his PhD at City University London Matthieu Joosten worked for over 20 years at KPN in The Netherlands as executive manager and director in fields of strategy, fixed and mobile wholesale, marketing & sales, B2B, business process management, IT and innovation. After leaving KPN in 2009 he worked as an independent telecom consultant in the USA, Middle East and Europe advising major telcos and cable companies on strategy and marketing & sales of wholesale and B2B/entreprise services. At SAS he is Industry Leader Telecommunications for South West Europe, responsible for the business development of SAS solutions in the communications sector.
