SAS recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in Tech for 2020

SAS, the leader in analytics, is one of the best places to work in tech, according to the latest ranking published by Great Place to Work® (GPTW). SAS achieved a position of #3 in the ‘large company’ category, up from #5 in 2019.

The company works hard to promote an atmosphere of creativity and value, so that employees feel empowered and strive to find the right answers for customers. CEO Jim Goodnight believes that the company’s attitude can be summed up in the maxim ‘treat employees like they make a difference, and they will’.

SAS has previously been named in the main UK Best Workplaces™ ranking, being recognised for atmosphere, ethical and approachable management, work life balance, autonomous working and brand pride. The opinion of employees is key: the survey that employees answer (the Trust Index©) represents three-quarters of the final score required to enter the ranking. The remaining quarter of the score comes from the Culture Audit®, a business-driven questionnaire that uncovers and evaluates the organisation's HR and leadership practices, policies and culture.

The Best Workplaces™ In Tech list showcases outstanding organisations within the tech industry that have made the main 2020 Best Workplaces™ ranking and any newly surveyed tech organisations that have recently met the Culture Audit and Trust Index thresholds. SAS features in the Large category, for organisations with 251-1,000 employees.

“We’re delighted to be number three in the GPTW ranking for large tech companies,” said Charles Senabulya, VP & Country Manager, SAS UK & Ireland. “We know that this has been an extremely challenging year for all organisations and their employees. We’ve put practices in place to ensure there have been regular updates to employees and transparency about what the company position is regarding COVID-19. We’ve also tried to ensure that, even in a virtual working environment, we are promoting employee wellbeing, encouraging regular online catch-ups among colleagues and creating a positive culture of recognition and appreciation.”

“Especially during these times of crisis and uncertainty, it’s incredible to see the number of organisations within UK’s tech space that have prioritised building a positive employee experience,” says Ben Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place to Work® UK. “In this, our third year of recognising UK’s Best Workplaces in Tech, we’ve seen many organisations find innovative and creative solutions in continuing to drive their great workplace culture remotely.”
