SAS expands easy-to-access analytics across UK public sector
SAS, the leader in analytics, has enhanced its Software-as-a-Service offerings to help the UK public sector deliver a smarter, more citizen-centric range of services. A range of solutions can be deployed rapidly to deliver fast results, whether it is driving proactive policymaking or delivering better social care for individuals.
Now available on G-Cloud, public sector bodies have a simple procurement vehicle alongside a rich choice of offerings that cater for many diverse requirements across the sector, including local authorities, healthcare, education and central government departments or agencies. The solutions span the end-to-end analytics lifecycle across data preparation and visual discovery through to predictive analytics and machine learning. They are available as a ready-to-deploy package of software, infrastructure and services that can be up, running and delivering value in just 24 hours.
SAS has further enhanced its presence via a collaboration between SAS Global Hosting and Amazon Web Services (AWS), making its analytics available through the cloud to all public sector clients in AWS UK region. In addition, it has developed targeted education and service offerings supporting assessment and modernisation of existing analytics platforms, with a key focus on adoption and transitioning clients to the cloud.
Designed to tackle the biggest data sets and the most complex of problems, the service covers all aspects of analytical model development (through both open source and SAS languages). It provides data science teams with both choice and control, as they are also able to collaborate, share, re-use, compare model performance and retrain developed models to achieve greater levels of accuracy. Access to both traditional and advanced analytical techniques is provided (such as machine learning, computer vision and natural language processing) and is a simple to use yet powerful platform for data scientists, statisticians, data miners, business analysts, citizen data scientists, data engineers and researchers.
For example, within healthcare, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) is gaining traction in oncologic care; with SAS, Amsterdam UMC is leading the way by using computer vision and predictive analytics to better identify cancer patients that are candidates for lifesaving surgery. Data scientists also take advantage of the SAS Deep Learning with Python (DLPy) API to create deep learning models. Capabilities like automatic segmentation help doctors quickly identify changes in the shape and size of tumors and note their colour.
Roderick Crawford, Director of Public Sector, SAS UK & Ireland, said: “At SAS we continue to invest in not just the features and richness of our software but also ensuring our customers have a frictionless experience when adopting it. Delivering these capabilities via Software-as-a-Service through G-Cloud provides the public sector with the abilty to leverage existing skills and have the choice to use both open source and SAS, but fundamentally it delivers insights and results much faster than we have ever been able to in the past.”
