With nearly 20 years’ experience working in the software industry, Rene is an experienced people manager with a background as a financial controller. Rene likes to work with people, especially motivating a team of professionals to take their roles and initiatives to the next level. Rene started working as a consultant in a professional services team, so he knows what it takes to make projects successful. With a hands-on mentality, he is at his best in front of a customer or prospective audience presenting vision and solutions rather than products.

Prior to joining SAS in 2010, Rene worked for Hyperion, E.piphany and Unica.

In his role in SAS, Rene manages an international team of highly motivated and experienced Marketing Business Advisors and Solutions Architects.

Ben Furneaux joined Cigna in year 2011 as Director & Head of Strategy for Cigna Individual, then International Markets, before being promoted as CMO of Cigna Indonesia in 2015.

Whilst at Cigna International Markets, Ben oversaw the global strategy for business development and expansion of the Individual Health, Life and Accident and Employer Medical propositions. His responsibilities included new market entry, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border partnerships development, joint venture negotiations and relationship nurturing and face-to-face sales.

During his time in this position Cigna entered into the India market, created its joint venture with Finansbank in Turkey and renewed the joint venture with China Merchants Bank.

Prior to joining Cigna, Ben had served in many key roles at HSBC Insurance in Asia, including as Asia Strategic Planning and Deployment Manager where he worked in various markets including Vietnam, Taiwan and Korea. He also worked for four years in HSBC’s Singapore Insurance business in distribution, product and strategy.

Ben has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Finance from Central Missouri State University, has completed intensive courses to learn Mandarin Chinese at Beijing Normal University and also participated in Tuck Business School Executive Leadership Program.

About SAS Global Practice

SAS Global Practice has three main functions:

  1. Support large projects for our international customers from start to finish. Support both the sales process as well as the delivery.
  2. Act as a knowledge hub or think tank for marketing and customer intelligence related matters and see how SAS can address these. Also deliver knowledge transfer sessions for our colleagues in the regions, to drive the team to always be ahead of the curve, be on top of trends and anticipate where markets will go.
  3. Deliver input to our product development teams in Cary, North Carolina, USA to drive direction based on our customers’ experience using our software.
