Dr. Kelly McGuire

Director of Hospitality & Travel Global Practice, SAS

Kelly McGuire leads the Hospitality and Travel Global Practice for SAS. In this role, she is responsible for driving the offering set and setting strategic direction for the practice. McGuire works with product management, sales, alliances and R&D to ensure that SAS solutions meet the needs of the market, and evangelizes the value of advanced analytics to the industries she serves. Before joining SAS, McGuire consulted with Harrah’s Entertainment on restaurant revenue management strategies for their major markets. Prior to that, she was a senior consultant at Radiant Systems. She also worked for RMS (Restaurant Revenue Management Solutions) providing menu item pricing recommendations to major chain restaurants.

McGuire has a BS from Georgetown University and a MMH and PhD in Revenue Management from the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. Her research has been published in The Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Journal of Pricing and Revenue Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research and the Journal of Service Management. She is also a frequent contributor to industry publications, speaker at industry conferences and is co-author of the SAS/CHR blog “The Analytic Hospitality Executive”.


Mr. Rene Van der Laan

Director of Integrated Marketing Management, Center of Excellence, SAS

Rene van der Laan is Director of the Business Advisory team for the EMEA & AP Center of Excellence for Integrated Marketing Management (IMM) at SAS.

Rene van der Laan started his career in enterprise software about 18 years ago. Before he started working as a consultant in the software business, Rene was an end-user of analytical solutions and financial management software in his role as financial controller. From this role he made the transition to software vendor Hyperion. After that he worked for CRM and marketing software vendors E.piphany and Unica.

His love for analytics, or better the lack of analytical capabilities of the other solutions, drove him into the arms of SAS, where he supports strategic, international accounts with his expertise and passion for the Integrated Marketing Management (IMM) solutions from SAS.


Dr. Ivan Oliveira

Director of the Advanced Analytics and Optimization Services, SAS

Ivan Oliveira manages the Advanced Analytics and Optimization Services (AAOS) group at SAS, where he has directed projects in operations research (OR) and optimization applications in a variety of industries. AAOS projects deliver consulting expertise to SAS customers in the field of OR, Inventory Optimization (IO), Revenue Management and Price Optimization (RMPO), and related technologies. A sample of AAOS projects includes optimal scheduling for ATM cash replenishment, portfolio optimization in government, revenue management in various industries, retail inventory replenishment and pricing, chemical mixture portfolio optimization in CPG, optimal assignment of delinquent loan processing, and simulation for drug discovery.

The AAOS is also engaged in internal SAS R&D projects, including optimization for data mining. Prior to the creation of the AAOS, Ivan was a member of the R&D interface team where he supported OR Professional Services engagements, acted as liaison between the field and R&D, addressed technical support issues, and developed algorithms for the interior point solver. Prior to joining SAS, Ivan worked at Intel Corporation (Optimization and Statistical Analysis Division) where he managed projects and developed models and algorithms for semiconductor design, supported a general optimization framework for internal customers, and taught classes on optimization. Education: MIT (MS, PhD).

Mr. Deepak Ramanathan

Chief Technology Officer, North Asia, SAS

Deepak is the Chief Technology Officer for the North Asia region. His role is to provide support to the region across the technology dimension. The technologies addressed by Deepak include Data Integration, Intelligence Storage, Business Intelligence and Business Analytics.

During his tenure at the Northeast Parallel Architectures Centre, Deepak has worked on several defence related projects including Command and Control Applications for the Rome Air Force Labs, Distance Learning for US Army Corps of Engineers and Data Mining application for Army Research Laboratories.

Deepak has over five years experience with SAS, more recently as the Enterprise Intelligence Platform (EIP) driver for SAS India. His experience includes implementation, consulting, sales support and business development with project exposures across notably the financial services and telecommunications Industries.


Mr. Jason Loh

Product Manager, Information Management & Analytics, North Asia, SAS

Jason is a Product Manager for Information Management & Analytics of SAS North Asia regional team, with a focus on Text Analytics amongst other SAS solutions.

He graduated with a double degree in Business and IT from Monash University, Australia and been working in the field of analytics for 12 years – and the recent 5 years in SAS in advisory and technical roles, presenting annually in Text Analytics/ Analytics public conferences and customer knowledge sharing sessions, and conducted workshops for National University of Singapore.

Jason is involved in the design/ delivery of a range of successful analytics projects for customers in sectors including government/ manufacturing/ banking and communications across Asia.
