SAS is a leader in enterprise fraud management, says independent research firm

Analytics powerhouse SAS is named a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Fraud Management, Q1 2016

Analytics powerhouse SAS is named a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Fraud Management, Q1 2016. According to the report, “[SAS’ solution] has great coverage for data integration, queue management, and authoring of rules and models, and it covers all major transaction types out of the box.”

Forrester Research evaluated 15 criteria to identify the seven most significant fraud management vendors. The report gave SAS among the highest scores in the current offerings category, with the highest scores among all vendors in the strategy and market presence categories.

Forrester also cites SAS’ continued product-development strategy: “1) improving in-memory visualisation of performance indicator dashboards; 2) extending design and simulation against big data; and 3) improving analytics by integrating device and behaviour data.”

Machine learning is a key differentiator
One of the key differentiators among vendors this year was machine learning. The report states, “As siloed technology for scoring fraud risk becomes outdated and less effective, improved administration, machine learning methods, and custom reporting now dictate which providers lead the pack.”

Rules-based fraud-management systems can fail to identify patterns in data. Machine learning, on the other hand, adapts to changing behaviours in a population through automated model building. Nothing new to SAS, these machine learning capabilities were built into SAS® fraud and compliance solutions at their inception to accommodate changing behaviours in complex data.

“SAS offers the most innovative anti fraud solutions on the market,” said Imam Hoque, Managing Director, Fraud and Security Solutions, SAS EMEA & AP. “Fraudulent activity is becoming more frequent and more sophisticated. Organisations, therefore, want advanced analytics solutions that can protect their bottom line. SAS solutions do just that by accurately producing models that guide smart actions on a large scale in real time.”

For fraud management, avoiding delays is pivotal. You can’t wait until the next day to discover an account has been compromised. You need to know as the payment is being authorised. SAS fraud solutions deliver this essential capability.
