Welcome to our first SAS FANS User Event in 2024!

You’re welcome to register for our first SAS FANS User Event this year and use this opportunity to hear from SAS Experts and gather with peers from other industries.

Join us to gain in-depth knowledge from SAS Experts on features and functionalities to boost your efficiency & productivity, and connect with a community of SAS peers, exchange ideas, and build lasting relationships.

4 pm – 4:15 pm: Welcome

4:15 pm – 4:45 pm: Data Storage Best Practices (Peter Hobart, SAS Customer Success)
We will discuss ways to use disk space efficiently and use resources best when space is limited. Items covered include compression vs. reducing variable length, using formats to expand shortcodes to a full description, using views instead of tables, good housekeeping and identifying unused tables, and exploiting new data types in SAS Viya.

4:45 pm – 5 pm: Break

5 pm – 5:30 pm: Scheduling and Orchestration with SAS Viya – Working with Apache Airflow (Rajeeve Narula, UKI Lead - Data & Analytics Engineering)
Many of our customers use Apache Airflow as their enterprise scheduling and orchestration tool to implement business process flows spanning multiple applications. SAS Studio Operator for Airflow was released in 2023 and has been recently updated with new features to enable effective integration between SAS Viya and Apache Airflow. This presentation will describe the benefits of the integration and demonstrate how you can orchestrate your data pipelines in SAS Viya using Apache Airflow.

Peter Hobart
Sr Customer Success Manager, SAS

Peter has worked at SAS for 26 years in customer support, education, architecture, and now customer success. Before joining SAS, Peter was the IT manager for a significant brewery's research laboratory. Peter has written several SAS courses and questions for the SAS certification exams but spends most of his time answering customer questions and presenting at customer events. Peter is a certified SAS advanced programmer, data integration developer, and SAS platform administrator. He is currently learning the new features of SAS Viya 4. 


Rajeeve Narula
UKI Lead - Data & Analytics Engineering, SAS

Rajeeve is a Technology Adviser with 12+ years of experience in SAS technology with a specific focus on Data & Analytics Engineering. He works with customers across all industry sectors to help them make the most of their data and achieve their analytical objectives in a cost-effective manner.
