Joan McGowan

Jeanine Kwong

Head of Financial Risk Digital Enablement Manulife

Jeanine Kwong is a forward-thinking leader with two decades of experience driving digital transformation within the investment risk domain.

In her current role as the Head of Financial Risk Digital Enablement and Head of Model Risk Operations Center of Excellence at Manulife, Jeanine leads cross-functional teams that deploy digital technologies to strengthen the organization’s risk culture. By fostering collaboration and communication across the business, technology, operations, advanced analytics, and risk management functions, Jeanine plays a pivotal role in cultivating a culture of risk-awareness, efficiency, and innovation within Manulife.

Prior to her current position, Jeanine held key leadership roles in investment risk management where she developed a deep understanding of market, liquidity and counterparty credit risk, and implemented effective risk governance frameworks that meet global regulatory expectations. She has extensive experience in implementing investment risk quantification and hedging programs for insurance-linked investment products, such as variable annuities, segregated funds, multi-asset managed volatility funds, capital preservation and defined outcome strategies, supporting the needs of a wide-range of customers. She contributed to launching semi-liquid investment product for retail clients. Her proactive approach to risk identification and migration has consistently positioned her as a trusted advisor.

Jeanine is also a people inclusion advocate and a certified agile leader. She assembles and serves in global cross-functional agile teams, leveraging her international experience with empathy and cultural sensitivity, to bring teams together for long term success.

Outside her professional endeavors, she is actively involved in industry thought leadership, contributing to discussion on risk management best practices and emerging risk trends. She is passionate about empowerment. She volunteers on the advisory boards for professional non-profit organizations and graduate programs to pave the path for next generations of risk leaders.

 

 


Chris Brophy

Principal Consultant – Risk Advisory, SAS

Chris Brophy is Senior Principal Industry Consultant – Banking at SAS Institute. Through innovative software and services, SAS empowers and inspires customers around the world to transform data into intelligence. 

Chris has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry with a focus on quantitative risk management. Chris has led both model risk management and model development organizations with direct experience in Stress Testing - CCAR, DFAST, Risk Quantification - CECL, PD, LGD, EAD, and Portfolio Analytics. Chris believes in using data and analytics to provide insights into the increasing complex business problems faced by businesses today. Previously, Chis has held positions at Alliance Data Services, Key Bank, and PNC Bank. 

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business.
